April is New Homes Month!

The idea of a new home, is often as  exciting as seeing the first signs of Spring. A new home, however, is not something that likely comes around every year for you and your family. With such major decisions to be made you want to make sure you have all of the information you need to make the right choices that not only suit your family’s needs now, but also for several years to come.

So, how does one know or find out where to better understand the importance of making the right decisions so they will be satisfied with the end result  –  a brand new home.

The Nova Scotia Home Builders’ Association (NSHBA) is one resource that has consumer information available to help them make better decisions when it comes to their new home.

“The idea of building or buying a new home can be overwhelming if you don’t know what to expect or the right questions to ask, but we want to make it a little easier for homeowners so they can enjoy the process and when it is finished, their new home,” says Paul Pettipas, NSHBA chief executive officer.

One way the NSHBA can help with this is by offering New Home Information Sessions across the province to answer a number of questions which consumers frequently ask when it comes to building a new home.

“We want consumers to know the right questions to ask their contractor before they hire them, what the new trends are for homes, the benefits energy efficiency construction can offer, financial information, heating choices, why you want to make sure a home is able to meet your communication needs and the benefits a home warranty offers,” adds Pettipas. “These tips and suggestions are just a few of the topics covered at our Information Sessions and help consumers to make informed decisions.”

The Information Sessions are a part of the NSHBA’s New Homes Month campaign and will be held at various locations across the province throughout April. Partners include Nova Scotia Power Inc., Bell Aliant, Atlantic Home Warranty, R-2000 and EnerGuide for New Houses.

Information sessions are offered at no charge, but it is required to pre-register at 450-5554 / 1-800-668-2001.
