In order to ensure quality and peace of mind when embarking on a new home or renovation project, it is important to hire a professional. Professional builders and renovators bring skill, judgment and integrity to the job. This will be reflected in both the quality of their work and the quality of their business relationship with you.

The Lifestyle Home is a first time initiative to address Nova Scotia’s ever changing demographic needs in the housing industry. Nova Scotia Home Builders’ Association and Scotian Homes have joined to bring together leading edge design, state of the art technology and energy efficiency to support an independent Lifestyle.

The Lifestyle Home is built on three different design principles: accessible and safe for the homeowner, environmentally friendly and technologically advanced. It includes three unique systems to ensure that the house not only meets but exceeds these standards.

The Lifestyle Home showcases Flex Housing features to allow independence for the homeowner at any point in their life. Installed is an advanced health care system called GrandCare, which acts as a channel on a loved-one’s television that can monitor the health of the homeowner. GrandCare monitors the average amount of movement within the house, provides daily vital sign and wellness reports, and records blood pressure, weight and glucose values for your doctor. These and many other unique features make GrandCare a must-have for those who are ageing or facing health risks.

The Lifestyle Home is also R-2000 certified and includes an advanced energy management system called the eMonitor, which allows the homeowner to view their energy usage on a clear digital screen. The eMonitor provides in-depth reports on energy consumption and costs and displays which areas of the house are using more electricity than others. It also provides alerts for potential dangers such as the stove being left on and warns about overloaded circuits before the family is left in the dark. The eMonitor features provide an opportunity to reduce the electric bill by 20% or more, while living safely and comfortably in an energy efficient home.

Finally, the Lifestyle Home is TechReady and includes an integrated lighting and entertainment control called Control4. Control4 allows seamless and easy-to-us control through an iPod, iPhone or other interfaces within the home. It is wireless and adaptable to new forms of technology, so as technology changes, the Lifestyle Home is able to change with it.

Scotian Homes, a multiple NSHBA award winner, invites you to visit this year’s Lifestyle Home located at 25 Bona Crescent in White Estates, Enfield, which offers accessible, quality living in a natural setting just outside of the HRM core, surrounded by all amenities. The advanced combination of features supports and promotes a lasting independent changing lifestyle, guaranteeing security, comfort and peace of mind.
